The price of this Daiya alfredo sauce is a little shocking, but when you think about the fact that vegan mac and cheez runs for about $5 at the store, it’s not that bad. After all, the noodles are the cheap part. This has three full packets of sauce, which could easily make at least three meals.
I found that this had a bit of a funky after taste, but not nearly as much as some other brands. If your mixed it with a grain or pasta and a bunch of veggies, it would be just fine.

Core & RInd Smoky Cashew Cheesy Sauce

I couldn’t make this up — this tastes like vegan SpaghettiOs sauce but better. It’s saucy, smoky and delicious. This was my second favorite vegan cheese sauce of the bunch. It’ s made by a small, women-owned business so even better! I’m definitely willing to pay a little more to support a small business.
Another bonus of this one is the serving size – it’s a generous 1/3 cup for just 100 calories. So a food that reduces my dairy intake, reminds me of childhood and isn’t full of junk? Count me in!

Beyond Better Sunflower Cheese dip and Sauce Mix

This vegan cheese sauce was the only one of the bunch that required a little more prep. Just takes some water 🙂 I did it on the stove, but after making it, realized the microwave would be much easier with the same result. It makes about 1.5 cups, and though it was good, it didn’t taste like cheese to me. It really tasted more like a vegetable broth-flavored paste. It’s easy to cook it up too thick on the stove too quick, which I totally did. it would not have worked well for a dip (check out the video to see the texture). That’s just one more reason to do it in the microwave.

CHEEZ VEGAN CHEESE

This one fascinated me. It’s a new fermented option, made from cashews. They actually suggest putting it in the fridge for a day or so before eating. I was skeptical at first, because it comes out fo the jar super thick. BUT it turned out to be the best one I tried. It’s very cheesy like cheddar, with a cream cheese texture. Plus it’s only 60 calories in a 2 TB serving. Literally the only downside I found is it expired a little quicker than the others, but that also makes me think the ingredients are fresher.

Pimp My Salad Cashew Parmesan Cheese

Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed by this one. It tasted just fine, but pretty much just like cashews and nutritional yeast. If you don’t want to go through the trouble of doing it yourself, this is a good option. 3TB Serving. It’s worth the price though, with 55% cashew nuts plus sunflower seeds and nutritional yeast. All those ingredients can get pricy on their own.
